Christmas Pictures

I loved being able to get a dress for Andria for Christmas this year when I went to buy Jacob's Christmas clothes. They look so cute in their little outfits! Andi thinks her brother is funny! She always smiles for him and they like to stick their tongues out at each other.

More Smiles :)

Andi has been smiling a lot more lately! She is happiest in the morning, which is funny because that is when Jacob is happiest too! She is still tiny and she is still wearing her newborn clothes. But she is growing for sure. Andi is generally happy almost all the time and she mostly only cries when she needs to be changed or when she is tired or hungry. Jacob still adores his little sister and whenever we go places he asks people "Do you want to see my baby?" He loves showing her to people. What a cute brother he is!

Andi Grace's First Smile!!

I had a dream last night that Andi was smiling and laughing at me. Today she smiled at me - twice!! I even got a picture of her doing it!!! Good thing because I can't get her to do it again!

Family Visits

My sister and her family came to meet the newest member of our family today. Aly just LOVED holding Andi and she kept taking her from other people. Brayden wanted to hold her too but he was more interested in telling Jacob just what it meant to have a little sister and what his responsibilities were now - what a cute boy! Leslie, my sister, was so happy to meet Andi Grace that she got a little teary-eyed. Chad and their youngest son Oliver were just happy to hold her. We are all just so happy to have Andi in our family.

More pictures of Andi Grace

...because I know you just can't get enough!!

Our friends Cecilia and Brad and their baby Patrick came over so that Cecilia could take pictures of Andi's homecoming. These are pictures that she took. Thank you Cecilia!

Andria Grace is Home!

Andria Grace is home! Jacob is smitten with his little sister and he keeps asking to hold her, when he has just passed her off. He is already possessive of her! He giggled with joy when he first saw her.

We love Paige and Josh so much and it was heartbreaking to see them go through placement. But they will be okay - they are awesome people and we know that they'll get through this with the help of their Heavenly Father. Please keep a little prayer in your hearts for them.

Introducing Andria Grace

Yesterday was one of the most amazing days ever.

I got to see our baby girl, Andi Grace, being born.

Paige invited me to stay for Andi's birth after I went to hang out with her and Josh and her family while we waited for Andi to be born. I have never witnessed a birth before and all that I can say is that it was just miraculous! I am so proud of Paige for doing so well and we are all so happy that Andi came so fast! She was born at 2:48pm and she weighs 5 lbs 11 oz and she is 18 inches long. After giving birth, Paige said "That was so easy!" I am so happy for her that it all went so smoothly. Andi came so fast that she has a perfectly round head and beautiful color. She has a head full of dark hair :) and a perfect little body. I can't wait to hold her forever!
Here is the object of all of our affection...Andria Grace! Here are the mommies...Paige and me with AndiHere are the daddies...Josh and Shane with Andi

We were so happy to get to see both Paige's and Josh's families at the hospital. And we are so happy to know and love both Paige's and Josh's families. We look forward to sharing our love for Andi with them throughout her life.

We can't wait for Friday night - when she will be ours to hold forever! We are so proud of Paige and Josh and our prayers will be with them as they spend time with this precious little girl before placement.

When I got home from the hospital I showed Jacob and Karen (Shane's mom) the pictures from the hospital and when Andi's picture came up Jacob said "She's mine! That's my baby!" So cute!

What's in a Name?

Several people have asked us how Andria Grace got her name.
When we first started talking to Paige we asked her if she had been calling the baby a certain name and she said that she had been calling her Andi. But she wanted her to have a "proper" name so she decided that she wanted it to be Andria.

Of course we already had a different name picked out for our future child - Lacey Marie. This name had been chosen by us 16 years earlier when we had first started dating. When I pictured my future little girl in my mind her name was always Lacey. But, amazingly enough, when Paige said that her name was Andi it didn't hurt like I thought it might. That is just her name - we have never once considered changing it. And as I thought about how amazing it is that her name just fit I realized that that is how life is. You think that life is going to be a certain way and you have certain expectations for your future but then it doesn't happen that way. For instance, I thought I would have three kids by the time I was 25 years old. And then we didn't get Jacob until we had been married for eight years and I was 29. But what is really amazing is that even though those dreams for my future didn't come true, they were replaced by something even better than I imagined!

Paige had also said that she wanted Andi's middle name to mean something, like her middle name Charity. So I thought about that a lot and considered different names. I went to Time Out for Women up in Logan a week after we started emailing back and forth. Brent Top was there speaking and he gave a talk about the grace of God. I thought that I knew what that meant before then but when he gave his talk I really understood what it was and what it meant to me in my life. And then I was thinking about Paige and Josh and their situation and us and our situation in relation to the grace of God. And I thought...this is really what adoption is - you do all that you can do and then you hand it over to Him and He will see you through your struggle and pain and you will overcome it with His help, but not until you hand it over to Him. I know that applies to everything in our lives but at that moment I had an overwhelming feeling that Andi's middle name should be Grace. And then Cherie Call, one of my favorite LDS artists, sang a song about grace and I felt it again - that her middle name should be Grace.

So Andria Grace is the perfect name for a child that will come into this world as the result of many prayers of pleading and hope and faith on all of the many sides of the situation. She will be a blessing to all of her family members. We have already been blessed by knowing Paige and Josh and we are looking forward to sharing our family and lives with them.
